About Dr. SAMAR NAHAS

Dr. Samar Nahas was inspired to pursue medicine at a young age while caring for her mother during her battle with breast cancer associated with a BRCA mutation. Through that experience, she developed a deep understanding that medicine is not only about treating disease, but also about supporting patients and their families through complex and challenging journeys.

She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Manitoba, followed by a second fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

With a distinguished career in gynecologic surgery, Dr. Samar Nahas has held leadership roles including serving on the Board of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She has also played an active role in advancing surgical education through SurgeryU, where she edited and reviewed surgical videos, and contributes as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology JMIG.

Dr. Samar Nahas served as Chair of the Women’s Health Department for over a decade, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the department and improving access to high-quality care for underserved populations. She also founded an American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists fellowship program to train future surgeons dedicated to advancing women’s health. Today, she continues this mission in her new practice, committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

As one of the few surgeons with dual fellowship training in both gynecologic oncology and minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Nahas has developed advanced expertise in the surgical management of complex gynecologic conditions.
